Quieter Than Killing by sarah Hilary
It’s winter, the nights are dark and freezing, and a series of seemingly random assaults is pulling DI Marnie Rome and DS Noah Jake out onto streets of London. When Marnie’s family home is ransacked, there are signs that the burglary can have only been committed by someone who knows her. Then a child goes missing, yet no-one has reported it. Suddenly, events seem connected, and it’s personal.
Someone out there is playing games. It is time for both Marnie and Noah to face the truth about the creeping, chilling reaches of a troubled upbringing. Keeping quiet can be a means of survival, but the effects can be as terrible as killing.
I absolutely loved this book! It is by far the best in the series so far!!!
The plot is well written with some brilliant twists at the end and the ending reads right up until the very last page!
The Marnie Rome series also features a back story of the relationship between Marnie and her foster brother Steven. This is something I find hugely intriguing. The author cleverly drip drops information into each novel and at the ending of this novel, I was left desperate to read the next one!
If you are new to the series I would hugely recommend reading them in order to get the most from the series. However this would make an exceptional standalone novel as it is utterly unputdownable! 5*
